Broadway Lunacy

Apologies on twisting your nickname around, Mr. Namath- but Joe Douglas and the New York Jets organization is straight ludicrous. Just sheer lunacy. Broadway Lunacy to put some tounge on it. You know by now- the Packers have sent Aaron Rodgers on packin' to New York. By the graces of all that is good- this ridiculous drama filled divorce is finally done and filed between Green Bay and Rodgers. Ending a 15 year relationship and putting them in a spot they haven't been in for over 31 years: in need of a franchise QB.

The Jets on the other hand- have done it again.

Done it again? Done what again- something stupid?

Yes, they have done something stupid once again. But, not just have the Jets done something stupid; the Jets have literally- done it again. Repeating history as they trade for a 39 year old quarterback who just had played 15 years for the Packers in a desperate leap for relevancy. Giving up capital and assets, of an already rebuilding team- for a rental. First, it was a retired (under contract) Brett Favre. Now, it's the ageing; entitled; Aaron Rodgers. Insane GM work.

For Favre & Rodgers- it's like some odd career mirror. Two hall of fame paths with damn near the same climax and endings playing out. Except Rodgers only "almost" retired.

Oh, New York. Before my rant makes more sense, shall we peek the trade deets... and again- keep in mind this is a 39 year old signal caller:

Mmm mmm mmm- look at that haul. Are we serious? For them to consider this a possible Super Bowl appearing decision is straight nuts. Like a 12 year old playing Madden. Cmon man. People have the delusion of thinking this is a good move due to the Lions-Rams trade involving Matthew Stafford, which resulted in a ring for Los Angeles. The Rams making the trade for Stafford; with the haul they gave; was a much better and different move compared to NYJ trading for Rodgers. With that, Stafford was 34 and the Rams had a Super Bowl roster only needing a star QB to get them to the promise land. The Jets absolutely do not have that Super Bowl ready roster. They do not have a top coach (at the time) in which they trust; to use that final piece to conquer in the window they had, like the Rams did with McVay. Not even that- Rodgers isn't no final piece.

Everyone was hypin' the Jets up; well mostly DJ Reed & Sauce Gardner; as they were 6-3 going into the bye week. Just to see them finish the season 1-7. Sure, if they can repeat and get better from last season- then the Jets have a top 10 defense. We did see that defense fall apart in second halves across the regular season last year- lets not forget. Nonetheless, a solid defense that is anchored by a defensive guru of a head coach. But, the offense? Absolutely terrible last season and currently headin' into the draft.

The wideout room of Allen Lazard; Mecole Hardman; Garrett Wilson; and Corey Davis, isn't very appealing- it is a bit better than what Rodgers had last year in Green Bay I suppose. Breece Hall & Michael Carter in the trenches with a C grade o-line? Cmon. That's no Super Bowl ready team. I personally don't expect a whole lotta nothin' for the Jets this season- and in general regarding the trade. Maybe 9-8 at best. Third in division. It won't be as bad as Favre's fiasco. Rodgers won't go 22/22 with a 43% QBR. He'll throw some yards and be a top 8 QB in the conference. Be wary- you might get some moanin' and cryin' by next August though. Oh! Don't forget to watch out for those "I Need This" lists. Gotta love the New York Jets.

Packers on the other hand feel like they just moved across the country to start over with just a backpack and a pack of cigarettes. 31 years of not having a sure fire franchise QB. Climate in whole has been altered. The vibes are strange. Plus, you won't hear many chirps this year due to the fact Packers' fans have nothing really to chirp about. I respect dumping Rodgers and getting the return they got. I think it's absolutely nuts- nonetheless, money move from Green Bay's side of things and I respect the negotiation technique. I expect a rollercoaster year in Green Bay... and a new rebuild to enjoy to watch; being the professional NFL GM storm and chaos watcher that I am. Let the chaos begin in Lambeau (Ha). I'll leave you with a spoiler- Jordan Love isn't the guy.

Never change NFL.
