Slim Reaper Falls Short

SLIM REAPER! What a series, what a game seven, but most of all; what a damn performance by Kevin freakin' Durant. The Slim Reaper himself. The best damn pure shooter known to man. I know the Nets have been sent packin' & I know the hate out there for the NBA's "villain" but if you truly say you love basketball... then you absolutely loved and adored the shooting and all-around display of basketball greatness put on by Kevin Durant throughout the series, especially the final three games. He was unstoppable. A performance that may just weigh as the greatest ever when we look back on it come a century from now.

Durant broke the all-time record for most points in a playoff game seven in NBA history with 48 points. Durant was just inches away from 49 and an opportunity to give the "Dame Wave" to the Bucks at the end of regulation. Like KD put it himself... it just wasn't part of God's plan. Durant hit a LEGENDARY game tying J as time expired that was soooo close to being a game winner... check out the goosebumps creating shot by KD:

SO damn close... just gutting for KD. The overtime performance of 0-6 better not force anyone to forget about Durant's grit and elite play going into that OT. Durant proved to be from that of a different planet in games 5-7. After Irving went down and Harden playing poor and hurt, Durant knew he had to go full dead eye mode. Fans and fellow players were left in awe as social media was set ablaze after game five thanks to The Slim Reaper. Durant played all 48 minutes, the first player to do so in the postseason since LeBron James in 2018- and he posted 49/17/10... YES 49/17/10 on some straight alien sh**, something you put up in 2K with ease on pro mode. Durant was absolutely incredible to watch. The last two players to put up 48+ in the box while playing all 48 minutes in a regulation playoff game- Durant and The Mamba Kobe in 2001. Durant became the first player ever to put up a 45/15/10 in the playoffs. KD was literally impossible to stop on defense, PJ Tucker earned his entire salary trying to defend the Reaper.

KD was doing whatever the hell he wanted as he showed once again why he is hands down the most gifted pure shooter ever. KD also notched the third-highest field-goal percentage (69.6%) in a 40-point triple-double in the history of the playoffs. Straight up unfair. The way he slices the defense and rips their soul as they know they will never block him is just so soothing to watch. KD slowed down a tad in game 6 as he still posted 32/3/11 but turned it in overdrive for an important game 7. I got to watch Game 7 with no distractions and boy was it a kickass night. Watching Durant work on offense, watching him slime through holes in the defense with velocity and power with his length is just awesome. Then when you see him slowly move up the court just to pull up and splash from waaaay downtown... it puts you in a frenzy man. Every spectator, rather live in Brooklyn or watching on TNT, I am sure that everyone was in a frenzy. The Reaper is special and a gift to watch as a basketball fan.

Durant surpassed the epic performances of Sam Jones and Dominique Wilkins in GM7 and he looked liked he did it effortlessly. I don't care that you don't like him because of the teams he has played for or because you think his legacy is washed due to the super team entanglements... what he does on the basketball court and with the ball in his hands is one of the greatest things in the history of the sport and I will say right here and right now; after that series it's proven with no cap that KD is currently the best player on the planet. Mark the words and bring the smoke... I'm all in. Durant has scored 40 or more in 13 playoff games over the course of his career, tied with Bryant and Chamberlain for fifth-most all time.

KD averaged just under 36 PPG in the series and currently has the third-highest all-time playoff average in NBA history. The art of playoff scoring baby. It was incredible to watch. The Bucks got lucky if we are honest. Giannis played absolutely terrible throughout the first four games of the series and Bud has been the worst coach in the playoffs once again. Thanks to Khris Middleton and the roster around Giannis, he was given a chance to actually perform well to advance past a hurt Brooklyn team. Unfortunately for Durant, his supporting cast, despite great efforts just couldn't stop Middleton and Giannis from taking the dub. You can all bet on one thing... Slim Reaper will be back.
